Here's Where To Get 5 Free Trees Near Maplewood Through Saturday

Bare root tree seedlings, as tall as 2 feet, will be given away at 5 Essex County locations.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — In advance of Arbor Day (April 29 this year), Essex county residents can pick up seedlings for five trees Friday or Saturday, courtesy of the state Department of Environmental Protection.

There are five locations in the county to pick up trees.

The seedlings are bare root tree seedlings, which come in lengths of six inches to two feet tall, in a bundle of five.

You don't need to register unless your municipality asks you to, but you must wear a mask, the state says. (See more information here).

  • Trees were already given away in Millburn Friday morning. Here are the rest of the locations:
  • Saturday, April 23, you can get them in Maplewood from 8:30 a.m. to noon, or in Belleville Township, Bloomfield, or Verona. Find out the addresses and times for Saturday here.
