Jeep Stolen While Driver Runs Into Maplewood Store: Police
The Maplewood police released details of reports from the last week in March, including a theft of a vehicle that was recovered days later.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood police released details of police reports they took during the last week in March, including a theft of a running vehicle. Among the reports:
Police responded on March 25 at 3:04 p.m. to 1565 Springfield Ave. after someone said their unlocked, running Jeep had just been stolen. The person had gone inside the storefront to retrieve an item, police said. The Jeep was last seen traveling eastbound on Springfield Avenue into Irvington. Several days later, Maplewood detectives recovered it in Newark.
Also, on March 23, Maplewood Police Officers Lareau, Moen, and Angerville responded to the area of Walton Road on a report of a car accident. Officers arrested Twanita Bragg, 51, of Clark, for Driving While Intoxicated. Bragg was issued a motor vehicle summons for DWI along with additional summonses, and was released to the custody of a family member.

On March 29, at 1:49 p.m., police responded to a report of a car break-in. Upon arrival they found a locked Honda that just had its window shattered. Someone took a laptop, air pods, and a brown purse from the vehicle, police said.
Police said, "The Maplewood Police Department works hard to protect the residents and their property. We are asking that you assist us in this effort by making sure all vehicles and homes are properly secured at all times."
