Kocafe Takes to the Street to Perk Things Up
Springfield Avenue Peruvian café makes the most of marketing — and looks to life after Kari's on Springfield Avenue.

Since its ribbon cutting opening in April, has been chugging along at 1908 Springfield Avenue with flavored coffee and Peruvian inspired cuisine. While it enjoyed a to Maplewood’s café and eatery scene, it is still hoping to connect with more coffee lovers looking for a home base.
“We’ve had a great response from a lot of new and repeat customers,” says owner , who has been has been very open to customer feedback. With a series of eye-catching signage, balloons and banners he hopes to attract — and keep — more regular patrons. “We’re always looking to reinvent ourselves and come up with new and exciting ways to keep customers happy.”

From posters featuring a chocolate-covered-crepe-eating baby to a busy suburban gal hoping to grab a cup of ‘get up and go,’ Kocafe is trying to connect with Maplewood, and Escribens hopes Maplewoodians will value that effort enough make some effort of their own and give his establishment a try:
”There’s a lot more car traffic than foot traffic on Springfield,” explains Anthony. “We added the balloons and signs to grab the attention of folks driving by but also to celebrate summer.” At a time when many are mourning the soon-to-be-loss of — as they did before — why not appreciate what we have while we have it?

Kocafe’s already pouring on the charm — why not give them a visit and let them pour you a coffee, too?! “We really try to offer something different,” promises Escribens. “Outside of great coffee, we have smoothies, crepes and a menu bursting with exotic flavors.”
Balloons or not, sure sounds like a wonderful reason to grab a bite, no?
