Livingston Symphony Orchestra Concert Features Young Artist

Student winner of competition joins Maplewood residents in performance.

On Saturday, the Livingston Symphony Orchestra's concert at Livingston High School will highlight the winner of the orchestra's 2012-2013 "Young Artist Concerto Competition."

This year's winner, Amy S. Zhang, of Livingston, will be performing Jean Sibelius' Violin Concerto in D Minor (Op. 47) with the LSO, in addition to other works.

"Once a year, we give a concert with the winner," said cellist Susan Profeta, of Maplewood. "This year there's an amazing piece, Mendelssohn's Symphony (nicknamed the Scottish Symphony), which is really challenging. We're really getting a handle on it."
