Man Robbed At Gunpoint In Maplewood At ATM: Police

The Maplewood police said someone in a ski mask pointed a gun at a man withdrawing money and demanded the cash.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A man called the Maplewood police Monday night to report that he was just robbed at gunpoint at the ATM, police said.

Police said that around 9:43 p.m., they got a 911 call from a 35-year-old Irvington resident. The resident said that he drove up to the Bank of America ATM at 1020 Chancellor Ave. to withdraw money.

As he was waiting for the money, a man in a black ski mask came up, pointed a gun at him, and told him to move his vehicle forward so the man could take the money, the victim said.

The suspect took the cash and debit card. Then he entered the passenger side of a black SUV and fled on Chancellor Avenue toward Irvington, police said.

The victim described the perpetrator as a black male approximately 20 years of age, 5 foot 9 inches, with a medium build and wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt.

The victim was not injured and declined medical attention, police said.
