Bleach Thrown In Woman's Face At Maplewood Diner: Police
Staff at the Maplewood Diner said a former job applicant threw bleach in an employee's face.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — A woman who works at the Maplewood Diner is recovering after a man threw a Gatorade bottle full of bleach at her face, police said Thursday.
The woman, 47, was attacked inside diner on Springfield Avenue about 11:25 a.m. last Thursday, police said.
The man also broke items in the diner before fleeing westbound on Springfield Avenue, police said.

The suspect was a man in his twenties who wore a black jacket, blue jeans, and a black baseball cap, police said.
The woman was taken to Saint Barnabas Medical Center for evaluation, police said.

Lt. Michael Palmerezzi said Thursday morning that there have not been any arrests yet, but detectives are working to identify the perpetrator.
He said the victim was released from the hospital a few hours after the incident, and is doing well.
The owner of the diner, who gave his name as Teddy, said Thursday that the person had come in looking for a job another time but had been turned down due to lack of experience.
