MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The class of 1970 at Columbia High School in Maplewood dealt with racial unrest, watching friends drafted into war, and the assassinations of their role models. But when they put together a video for this year's graduating seniors, they didn't discount the younger generation's own fears and challenges.

"The common thread was not so much what was happening to humanity, but how humanity perservered," said Cathy Alexis in the video.

"If we had the time, we would have had many more people of our graduating class involved," said Jack Wagner '70, who helped put the video together. "We are confident that everyone who walked across the stage at Underhill Field on June 17, 1970 would want to send their best wishes to the graduates of 2020."
