Maplewood Dickens Village 2019 Guide
Annual event offers multiple opportunities to see Santa, hear music and take horse and wagon rides.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Have a Dickensian experience without being visited by spirits or living as an urchin as Ricalton Square transforms into Dickens Village for three Saturdays this December.
Dickens Village includes refreshments, children's activities, horse-drawn carriage rides, carolers and concerts.

Saturday, Dec. 7
- 1 p.m. – Santa arrives! And he’s escorted by the Maplewood Fire Department
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Dickens Village houses open for viewing
- 2 p.m. – Holiday reading for children at Words Bookstore
- 2 p.m. – Choral presentation by Jefferson School students – 4th grade
- 3 p.m. – Choral presentation by Jefferson School students – 5th grade
- 4:30 p.m. – Tree lighting program (reading of The Christmas Carol by Dean Dafis, Holiday reading by Mayor Vic DeLuca, then the tree is lit)
Saturday, Dec. 14
- 8 a.m. – Breakfast with Santa at Cedar Ridge Cafe
- 9:30 a.m. – Breakfast with Santa at St. James Gate, Village Trattoria, and True Salvage Cafe
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Dickens Village houses open for viewing, visit with Santa, Horse and wagon rides
- 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Jack’s Petting Farm
- 2 p.m. – Maplewood’s own Swing Town Holiday Concert at the Burgdorff Center
- 2 p.m. – 2:45 p.m. – Story hour reading by Maplewood Children’s Library
Sunday, Dec. 15
- 3 p.m. – Maplewood Concert Band’s annual winter performance @The Woodland. Free admission. Snow date: Dec. 18.
Saturday, Dec. 21
- 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. – Dickens Village houses open for viewing, visit with Santa, horse and wagon rides.
- 1:30 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. – Jack’s Petting Farm
- 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. – Craft and story program for children of all ages at Maplewood Memorial Library, Baker Street
Monday, Dec. 23
- 6:15 p.m. – Menorah Lighting, Ricalton Square
Also of note, the Strollers group will be caroling throughout the Village on Dec. 7 and 14. A map of the event area can be found on the website.
