Maplewood Homeowners May Be Eligible For $20K In Repair Assistance

Need to repair a home in Maplewood but low on cash? This program may be able to help.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood residents with homes in need of repair – but who don’t have the funds to make it happen – may be able to find relief via an affordable housing program, officials say.

According to an announcement on the Maplewood municipal website, eligible homeowners can receive up to $20,000 in repair assistance through the Community Grants, Planning and Housing (CGPH) program, which assists municipalities and counties to rehabilitate homes in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

Approved use of the funds can include roofs and foundations, heating and electrical, windows, insulation and plumbing, according to the CGPH website.

Applicants should live in Maplewood, own their own home and have a total gross annual household income that falls below these limits:

  • 1 person household - $50,744
  • 2 people - $57,993
  • 3 people - $65,242
  • 4 people - $72,492
  • 5 people - $78,291
  • 6 people - $84,090
  • 7 people - $89,890
  • 8 people - $95,689

According to the municipal announcement, there is no cost to apply and applications will not affect credit scores. Funds are provided as a no-interest, 10-year forgivable loan. A professional inspector oversees the process, and there is no monthly payment.
