MAPLEWOOD JEWELER BEATTY TO EXHIBIT AT THE 3rd AMERICAN FINE CRAFT SHOW BROOKLYN AT BROOKLYN MUSEUM NOVEMBER 21-22
Jeweler Sheila Beatty's work exemplifies the use of jewel tones, a trend at this year's craft show at Brooklyn Museum

Whether gemstones, coral or polymer, jewel tones from nature will punctuate the display cases of many of the 19 jewelry designers at the third American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at Brooklyn Museum November 21-21, 2015. And Sheila Beatty from Maplewood is one of the exhibitors. She incorporated brilliant blues with emerald, aqua and lapis in a gold cloisonné and guilloche enamel pendant called “Bird of Paradise.”
Jewelry, along with handmade work of 71 fashion designers and artisans of home accents, will fill the regal Beaux-Arts Court in time for holiday shopping.
“As an artist, enamellist and jewelry maker, I bring a lifelong involvement in the visual arts--fine art, illustration and calligraphy--to the challenge of making cloisonné enamel,” writes Beatty on her website. The Maplewood jeweler adds “My small-scale jewelry pieces are miniature paintings, which, while mainly abstract, take inspiration from the natural world and from historical influences such as Art Nouveau.”
