Maplewood Opens Cooling Centers, Pool Amid Heatwave

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — With temperatures soaring past 90 degrees Thursday and Friday, Maplewood has opened places for residents to cool down. READ MORE: NJ Heat Wave: Could Feel As Hot As 110

The town said that the Community Pool was open to all residents on Thursday and Friday afternoons. Check the town website for updates.

Also, cooling locations were set up at the Maplewood Library's Main Building at 51 Baker St. and the Hilton Branch at 1688 Springfield Ave. Please note that a mask is required inside the library buildings.

Anyone needing a cooling location outside of library hours should call the Maplewood Police at (973) 762-1234.

The hours for both library locations are listed below:

Main Library
Building capacity: 50
Monday - Thursday, 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Friday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 2 p.m. - 5 p.m.

Hilton Branch
Building capacity: 24
Monday - Thursday 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Saturday, 10 a.m. - 1 p.m.
