Maplewood Pilots Left Turn Ban At Prospect Street & Oakland Road Intersections
The traffic change is part of a broader Prospect Street redesign that includes proposed bike lanes, a new stop sign, and full repaving.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Maplewood Township has launched a pilot traffic program on Prospect Street, prohibiting left-hand turns at its two intersections with Oakland Road. Electronic signs are posted at the affected locations to alert drivers to the change, officials said Tuesday.
The pilot is part of a broader proposed redesign of Prospect Street that has been discussed at three public meetings — held April 28, May 4, and May 26.
The township is looking to repave the entire length of Prospect Street this year, and discussions have included adding dedicated bike lanes in several areas, a stop sign at Elmwood Avenue, and other improvements aimed at increasing safety for pedestrians, cyclists, and drivers.

Residents are encouraged to pay attention to the electronic signage while the pilot is in effect as the township continues to evaluate the proposed changes.
