Maplewood Police Chase, Catch Alleged Burglar
Samuel Skeete was arrested after fleeing police.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A 21-year-old Maplewood man was arrested and charged with burglary after fleeing police on Tuesday, according to Maplewood Police Chief Jim DeVaul.
According to DeVaul, at approximately 11:50 a.m. the Maplewood Police Department responded to a call of a burglary in progress at 56 Park Ave. Upon arrival, officers were checking the exterior of the residence when a man identified as Samuel Skeete exited the back door of the residence and attempted to run away from the location, DeVaul said.
Officers gave chase and subsequently apprehended Skeete in the area of 139 Indiana Street without incident, DeVaul said.

In addition to the burglary charge, Skeete was also charged with eluding along with numerous outstanding warrants from multiple jurisdictions, DeVaul said.
Skeete was transported to the Essex County Detention Center.
