Maplewood Police Preps Domestic Violence Forum, Workshop

A pair of programs are set for the Woodland this October.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Police Department is inviting the public to an interactive workshop and community forum on domestic and intimate partner violence on Oct. 16.

The first workshop, presented by the Rachel Coalition, is entitled "In Her Shoes" and is set to run from 5 p.m. through 6:30 p.m. Next up is the Domestic and Intimate Partner Violence Community Forum presented by Community Partners set to run from 6:3 p.m. through 8:30 p.m. Both are taking place in The Woodland located at 60 Maplewood Road.

After an incident of domestic violence earlier this month, Maplewood Police Chief James DeVaul noted that October is Domestic Violence Awareness month.

"Please remember that domestic violence is real," DeVaul said. "We all know of persons who suffer in silence for many reasons and circumstances. Take time to offer your support and let them know that they are not alone and there is assistance available."
