Maplewood Ranks On List Of Most ‘Sustainable Suburbs’ In America

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood recently found itself ranked as one of “America’s Top 120 Most Desired Sustainable Suburbs” in a new list.

California-based Solar Insure recently conducted a nationwide survey of 3,000 participants, asking them to name the “green” sustainable suburbs they’d most like to move to for an eco-friendly lifestyle.

Maplewood was one of the top-rated towns on the list, ranking 65th. Here’s what researchers had to say about the township:

"Maplewood is known for its commitment to green living, with a strong focus on sustainability initiatives. The suburb encourages walkability with its pedestrian-friendly downtown, promotes recycling and composting programs, and has many parks and green spaces. Maplewood also supports green building practices and energy-efficient upgrades, making it a vibrant, eco-conscious community."

Other New Jersey towns that ranked on the list included Montclair (36th) and Princeton Junction (43rd).

The highest-ranked towns in the U.S. were Coral Gables, Florida (1st), Kailua, Hawaii (2nd), and Santa Monica, California (3rd). See the full list here.

“Our survey highlights the innovative ways suburban communities across the nation are embracing sustainability,” Solar Insure founder Ara Agopian said.

“From green infrastructure to renewable energy, these neighborhoods are paving the way for a future where eco-friendly living is accessible to everyone,” Agopian said.
