Maplewood’s Hero Olympian Bashes Trump Before 2016 Presidential Election

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The fate of the 2016 Presidential Election is still up in the air, but it’s fairly certain that Donald Trump won’t be getting the vote of Essex County Olympic fencing hero Ibtihaj Muhammad.

Muhammad, a bronze medal team winner who recently made Olympic history as the first fencer to compete in a hijab, contributed to a final push against Trump prior to Tuesday’s election, calling out the Republican candidate for his inflammatory campaign statements about Muslims.

“Help #MakeAmericaGreatAgain!” Muhammad wrote on a Monday Twitter post. “Trump wants Muslims to report, so let's all report straight to the polls! Hate is no match for us.”
