With vacations on the way, Maplewood has posted its remote plan if needed.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — With fall break happening this week and the holidays on the way, the South Orange-Maplewood Schools posted its Emergency Remote Or Virtual Instruction Plan for the 2021-2022 School Year on its website last Tuesday, which would go into effect "during a district closure lasting more than three consecutive school days due to a declared state of emergency, declared a public health emergency, or a directive by the appropriate health agency."

In fall 2020, after months of lockdowns and waning coronavirus cases, the case numbers started ticking up again, reaching a peak after the winter holidays when people were congregating and traveling.

In 2021, cases have come down again in New Jersey with the rise of vaccinations, but officials know people will be coming back from trips to other places.

On Tuesday, there was only one new COVID-19 case reported in Maplewood since the day before.

The proposed plan below has different schedules for grades K-2, 3-5, middle schools, and Columbia High School.

For the 2021-22 School Year

This plan would be implemented during a district closure lasting more than three consecutive school days due to a declared state of emergency, declared a public health emergency, or a directive by the appropriate health agency or officer to institute a public health-related closure.

  • The Instructional Model including School Schedules
  • Grades, Assessment & Attendance
