Maplewood Sees 2 Car Thefts In 48 Hours: Burnett Avenue, Colgate Road

Maplewood police said that two cars were reported stolen within a 48-hour period in the township.

Maplewood, NJ – Maplewood police said that two cars were reported stolen within a 48-hour period in the township late last month.

According to the Maplewood Police Department, a Burnett Avenue resident reported that an unknown person caused damage to their Dodge Caravan parked in their driveway between 9 a.m. and 11 p.m. on April 27.

Police stated that the damage was consistent with an attempted car theft.

A Dodge Caravan was reported stolen from the parking lot at 50-58 Burnett Avenue during the overnight hours that night, police stated.

Less than 24 hours later, a Colgate Road resident reported that their Acura was stolen from its spot in front of their home between 5 and 6 a.m. on April 28.

According to police, the vehicle was recovered a short distance away in Union.
