Essex County Sorority Kickboxes For Charity
The fundraising event highlighted how physical activity can combat cardiovascular disease.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — It’s been a long-running tradition for the women of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated to wear the colors pink and green. But on Feb. 4, the women of the Rho Gamma Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority went red and pink during a charity kickboxing class at Blue Life Karate and Fitness to promote Go Red for Women TM.
According to a news release from the sorority, cardiovascular diseases and stroke cause one in three women’s death each year. The recent fundraising event highlighted how physical activity can combat cardiovascular disease; participants were able to learn facts about heart health while enjoying a kickboxing workout.
Funds collected will benefit the American Heart Association. Individuals interested in supporting the cause can donate by visiting their fundraising page here.
