Maplewood's 2019-20 School Calendar: Religious Holidays, Breaks

Here are all the important dates families need to know about for the coming school year.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Don't let this news stop you from enjoying summer, but the first bell of the 2019-20 school year is less than two months away.

Here are some key dates for the upcoming school year:

  • First Day of school: Sept. 5 (K-7/9)
  • First Day of school: Sept. 6 (8/10-12
  • Rosh Hashanah: Sept. 30, Oct. 1
  • Yom Kippur: Oct. 9
  • Student 4 hour day: Oct. 15
  • Staff development day: Nov. 5
  • Teacher Convention: Nov. 7-8
  • Thanksgiving break: 4 hour day Nov. 27, off Nov. 28-29
  • 4 hour day, conferences: Dec. 4 through Dec. 6
  • 4 hour day: Dec. 10
  • Winter break: Dec. 23 to Jan. 1
  • Martin Luther King Jr. Day, school closed: Jan. 20
  • 4 hour day: Feb. 4
  • 4 hour day: Feb. 14
  • President's Day: Feb. 17
  • 4 hour day: March 11-March 13
  • Early Dismissal: March 18
  • Good Friday: April 10
  • Spring break: April 13-17
  • Memorial Day, school closed: May 25
  • 4 hour day: June 22- June 24

Noting these dates are good way to prepare for going back to school. But don't forget the school supplies.
