Maplewood's National Night Out Is Set For Tuesday

MAPLEWOOD, NJ – The Maplewood Police Department and the Community Service Bureau are fighting crime through community engagement by hosting the annual National Night Out Against Crime.

The event is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6 in DeHart Park, located at 120 Burnett Ave.

The evening will feature:

• music
• food
• DJ
• bounce houses
• superheroes
• Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Truck
• Video game truck

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring place to live, officials said.

National Night Out, a yearlong community building campaign, is designed to:

• heighten crime prevention awareness generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
• strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
• send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back

This is a night for America to stand together and promote awareness, safety, and neighborhood unity. National Night Out showcases the vital importance of police-community partnership and citizen involvement in our fight for a safer nation. NNO invites neighborhoods nationwide to “give crime a going away party."
