Maplewood Releases Followup Comment On 'Green Plume' At Pool

Parent said their kids became sickened on Saturday after a malfunction at the Maplewood pool. The town has released two statements.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — After parents had to take their kids to area emergency rooms and others dealt with their children's breathing problems after a visit to the Maplewood pool Saturday, the township released a followup statement on Sunday:

The children became sickened when a "green-brown plume" was apparently released into the Maplewood pool Saturday, Village Green reported Saturday.

"Parents said that the trouble began when a green-brown plume was released from the pool filter near the ramp of the main pool at around 12:45 p.m," reported the outlet. "They reported a strong odor of chlorine."

Parents of young children told the outlet that their children experienced symptoms ranging from lethargy to vomiting after leaving the pool.
