Masked Gunman Robs, Assaults Attendant: Maplewood Police

66 Gas Station on Springfield Avenue and an employee was assaulted, police said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Police Department are looking for the person responsbible for the armed robbery and assault of a gas station attendant on May 19.

According to authorities, shortly before 4:40 a.m., a male wearing a mask approached the gas attendant of the 66 Gas Station on Springfield Ave., displayed a handgun, demanded money and struck the attendant.

The man then fled on foot with the money, police said. Officers responded and checked the area, but were unable to locate the suspect, police said.

According to authorities, EMS responded and evaluated the attendant, but he refused medical attention.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
