The Milton School Eyes Major Prizes as They Rally Communities Around Teen Driver Safety

The Milton School looks to score $100,000 and a private concert by Grammy® nominated The Band Perry

Maplewood, NJ, October 2014 – High schools registered for Celebrate My Drive® powered by State Farm® are in the running for a share in millions of dollars in grant awards, and maybe even one of two private concerts by GRAMMY® nominees, The Band Perry. Students and communities are working together to heighten awareness about safe driving and asking for online safe driving commitments to help them win. Everyone age 14 and up can help.

This is the second year that The Milton School has been in the program and they need the community’s support to finish in the top place to win one of the grants.

As part of the program, State Farm agents are working closely with their local high schools to raise the awareness of the need for education around teen driver safety. “Celebrate My Drive is all about keeping teens safe on the road. It’s important for the entire community to rally around our new drivers and support them by making our own safe driving commitments,” said Jennifer Young, Community Specialist for State Farm. “Let’s bring the concert and $100K to New Jersey.”, she added.

New Jersey has over 25 schools currently registered for the program. (Visit www.celebratemydrive.com for a list of all the schools) During last year’s program two local schools, Immaculate Heart Academy and Immaculate Conception, won $25,000 each for their schools by participating in the program. They have been able to implement great teen driver programs and other activities at their school with their grant.

High schools still have time to register to participate, the deadline is October 7. Online safe driving commitments can be made on behalf of registered high schools Oct.15-24 during National Teen Driver Safety Week. They can also reach out to Jennifer Young at 973-739-5206 for more details.

The program, which emphasizes positive driving messages such as 2N2® – 2 eyes on the road, 2 hands on the wheel - is in its third year. Last year more than 6.3 million safe driving commitments were made in support of high schools across the U.S. and Canada.
