MSO Girls Softball Teams Win District Championships
The girls won in the U10 and U12 divisions.
The U10 and U12 Maplewood South Orange Villagers Girl Softball teams won the Babe Ruth Softball District 2 Championship on Sunday, June 20, 2010.
The U12 Villagers beat Hoboken 13-3 to capture the title. The girls went undefeated in the double elimination tournament.
On Tuesday, June 22, the U10 girls won a rain delayed game 25-12 over Weehawken. The U10 girls had to come out of the loser's bracket to win the title in five games.

Both teams will now advance to the New Jersey State Babe Ruth Tournament running July 7 -11. The U10 girls will play in Kinnelon, while they U12 will play up in Randolph. They join the U8 girls who automatically qualified for the State tournament. The U8 team will play in Mt Olive.
MSO Softball has 71 girls playing on one of 6 teams this summer; U8, U10, two at U12 and two at U14. Starting tonight the girls open up their regular summer season with games at the newly renovated fields at New Waterlands in South Orange.
