New Peruvian Coffee Lounge Stirs Up Buzz 'About Town'

Here’s something that should make anyone longing to add a splash of international flair to their caffeine and cuisine perk up:

is primed for its this Sunday at 1908 Springfield Avenue and this is truly a buzz-worthy entry to Maplewood’s café and eatery scene.

Having peeked in yesterday, I can say that the creative vision that owner Anthony Escribens has been diligently working away on is ready to roll.  Behind the carefully covered windows, a world of international, exotic appeal awaits our town:

Rich, strong colors adorn the walls, showcasing striking art, nestling traditional seating and accomodating a comfy, cosmopolitan lounge area. Everything looks as sumptuous and inviting as the menu of flavorful coffee, fresh juices, sophisticated sandwiches, crepes and pastries Kocafe will soon be serving up.

“I wanted to bring a new sort of coffee house to Maplewood, fusing Peruvian flavors with Latin American ones,” explains owner Escribens. “I’m really excited to share some new flavors and introduce people to my culture.”

Anthony’s charming parents, who own a successful café in Lima, Peru, flew in yesterday morning to share in Sunday’s festivities with will include music and 10% off discount certificates. Judging from what I saw yesterday they already have much reason to be proud of their son’s efforts. I also think Maplewood will have much reason to celebrate Kocafe long after its ribbon cutting ceremony.
