Here’s why people are marching, according to organizers:

“This official sibling March For Our Lives rally led and organized by local student leaders will have youth speakers that will highlight the need for gun violence prevention measures, safer schools and the community at large. Immediately after the rallies, student leaders will lead participants to board train to the NJ March for Our Lives march in Newark. The press and the community are invited and encouraged to join in the events in Maplewood and South Orange.

The rally comes just 10 days after the national #ENOUGH student walkouts on gun violence, which included hundreds of students in the South Orange-Maplewood Public School District.
