Relive Maplewood's National Night Out (Photos)

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Police Department and the Community Service Bureau fought crime through community engagement by hosting the annual National Night Out Against Crime on Tuesday.

The event was in DeHart Park and featured:

• music
• food
• DJ
• bounce houses
• superheroes
• Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Truck
• Video game truck

"Another great National Night Out with the Maplewood Community," the Maplewood Police wrote on their Facebook Page. "Thank you to all of the businesses, community members, Law Enforcement Agencies, and volunteers who came out and helped make National Night Out 2019 the best one yet."

National Night Out, a year long community building campaign, is designed to:

• heighten crime prevention awareness
• generate support for, and participation in, local anti-crime programs
• strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships
• send a message to criminals letting them know that neighborhoods are organized and fighting back
