Small Biz Saturday Comes to Maplewood
Here's one shopping special that favors downtowns over malls.

If you've noticed the ads plastered all over Patch, you cannot have missed the fact that it's Small Business Saturday.
This year, Nov. 26 has been deemed by Amercian Express as "the most important shopping day of the year." AmEx is offering a special rebate to customers who use their cards to make purchases at mom-and-pop businesses around the nation.
Yesterday, we noted that providing convenient, affordable and locally grown retail opportunities to residents.

Today, makes its case. Village Manager Julie Doran tell us, "Maplewood Village is made up of unique, independent boutiques, restaurants, cafés, and other locally-owned businesses. It is the heart of our town and its charm and character are a large part of what makes Maplewood such a special place to shop, dine and live. This Saturday, show your love for Maplewood and shop at your local favorites."
We were down in Maplewood Village earlier today and locals seem to be taking the prompts to shop locally to heart. Even if not all Village busineses take AmEx, we still urge you to shop, eat and entertain yourselves locally — whether on Springfield Avenue, in the Village, on or along Valley Street.
