The Society of Musical Arts Orchestra Concert "Raising the Bar"

The Society of Musical Arts Orchestra opens their concert season on Sunday, November 2, 2014 at St. George’s Episopal Church, 550 Ridgewood Road in Maplewood. “Raising the Bar” plays on the names of two gifted composers of the twentieth century: Bela Bartok and Samuel Barber. Also raising the bar in another sense will be the talented New York violinist Ashley Horne, featured soloist in Barber’s Concerto for Violin and Orchestra. Rounding out the program will be Schumann’s Symphony No. 3, “The Rhenish.”

The Society of Musical Arts (SOMA) was founded by the famous Maplewood violinist and music teacher/author, Samuel Applebaum. For over thirty years, the SOMA orchestra has brought together friends, neighbors, and musicians, both professional and amateur--all for the love of music! All are welcome!
