South Orange-Maplewood Schools Cancel After School Activities

'Likelihood of hazardous travel conditions' will close down all SOMSD facilities.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The first blast of winter weather has canceled all after school activities in the South Orange-Maplewood School District Thursday, according to officials.

"All after school activities are cancelled for today at all SOMSD facilities, due to the forecast for snow and the likelihood of hazardous travel conditions. This includes elementary Beyond the Bell classes and on-site after care through the YMCA," the district said in an email.

Officials noted that the SOMSD 2020: Intentional Integration and Innovation event scheduled for Thursday evening at Clinton School will be rescheduled.
