St. Paddy's Day in Maplewood
Our Readers' Choice is Highland Place, but you can't go wrong with any pub in Maplewood on March 17!
It sounds more Scottish than Irish, but in Maplewood Village ran away with our Readers' Choice poll this week on the best place to spend St. Patrick's Day in Maplewood.
Owner Chris Farrow — from Liverpool not Limerick, mind you — is pulling out all the stops to make Highland Place THE place this Saturday for all to wear the green, have some drinks, hear some music and enjoy good eats.
Here's the menu:

Highland Place will open at 8 a.m. on St. Paddy's Day and keep the party going until 2 a.m. Megan Jean and the Klay Family band will play at 9 p.m.
Meanwhile, around the corner, is not to be outdone by those upstarts on Highland. Owner John Meade says that Irish brunch will begin at 8 a.m. and run through noon. Traditional Irish musicians will be playing from noon to 4 p.m. with bagpipers wandering in and out throughout the day. The lunch and dinner menu will be limited to Irish standards like corn beef and cabbage and shepherd's pie.
And every lady will receive a green carnation.
If you need some green to wear, head for where Mary Vayas is selling some adorable t-shirts for $23.95 (see the pictures).
But, wait! There's more. "Shamrock1224" tells us that "Os" or is the place to be.
"Enjoying some Guinness! Not sure which pub we'll hit. 'O's' (as we fondly call it) has been really great with our family setting up parties and the like."
Shamrock1224 also gives a shout-out to Cryan's in South Orange.
And we will let Shamrock also have the final word on this story:
"Happy St. Paddy's Day to all, enjoy, and stay safe!"
