Teen Struck In Head With Gun During Maplewood Robbery: Police

The Maplewood police are looking for 3 suspects after a teen was hit in the head with a gun during a robbery attempt, they said.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Maplewood police are looking for three suspects after a teen was hit in the head with a gun during a robbery attempt Friday afternoon, they said.

Police said that at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Friday, three suspects were involved in an attempted robbery in the area of 83 to 89 Jacoby St.

Police said that a 18-year-old victim was struck in the head with the butt of a handgun. Then, three suspects fled on foot toward Irvington. Police did not know if a vehicle were involved, they said.

Emergency medical responders arrived, police said, but the victim was not transported to the hospital.

Police said that the victim was "uncooperative" and declined to provide a statement.

"It is believed the parties are known to each other," police said. "There has been no indication that either party is from Maplewood. No further leads at this time."
