Too Much TikTok? Maplewood Helps Parents Navigate Screen Time
Remote learning means students have new types of problems, so schools are running a series for parents. This week focuses on social media.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The South Orange-Maplewood schools, like many in New Jersey, are all-remote for now due to the coronavirus crisis. But that can lead to different health issues for students — less socialization, less physical activity, and more time on their computer screens.
The school district has been holding a weekly series to help parents help their kids navigate various social-emotional aspects of remote learning, called the Social/Emotional/Academic Crisis Support Speaker Series.
This week's session is called, "Screen Time And Social Media During the Pandemic."

The session will be held Thursday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. It's presented by the Parenting Center and Elementary School PTA.
It will be moderated by Jen Latimer, a school media specialist and founder of the Well Being Therapy Center & Level Up Teens.
