Unlocked Cars Stolen In Maplewood, Dumped In Newark, Cops Say
Police in Maplewood released details of police reports in the last two weeks.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — Two unlocked vehicles have been stolen from the streets of Maplewood and dumped in Newark over recent weeks, and a third was burglarized, according to police.
The first heist occurred on Nov. 17 when someone broke into an unlocked car parked on Hillcrest Road and grabbed a Samsung Tablet and wallet, police said.
That night, an unlocked car was stolen from a Park Avenue which was "recovered in Newark several days later," police said.

Less than two weeks later, on Nov. 29, an unlocked vehicle was stolen from a driveway on Park Road between 8:30 and 11:30 p.m and "eventually" recovered in Newark, police said.
Crime in Maplewood was not limited to unlocked cars.

Two packages were stolen from the front steps of a Prospect Street woman some time between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. on Nov. 16 and Nov. 17, police said.
