Wave the Flag at Memorial Park
Kids and parents get together for a memorable 'Wave the Flag' event.
It was a hot, sunny day down in Memorial, but that didn't phase anyone. At least 300 people flocked to the "amphitheater" to be a part of a wonderful artwork. 'Wave the Flag' was fun for all ages. The kids were entertained by makeshift musical equipment and painting patriotic messages across a maze of red banners. Adults were snapping photos and laughing amongst each other.
Benjamin John Kaufman spoke with me while there:
"It just came to me one day that we could make these shirts and just make a waving flag. The local VFW post (VFW post 10120) and the 1978 Maplewood Art Center contributed equally to this and I think it came out great. This was our best project ever and in all likelihood there will be one next year."
