Who Let The Girls Out?

The 2nd Girls NIght Out of 2009 is happening RIGHT NOW! Get out down to Maplewood Village and party, people!

Thursday night, October 22, from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., merchants in Maplewood Village will be offering special promotions aimed at providing a fun night out for local female shoppers.

The first Girls Night Out--or GNO, for those living on Planet Testosterone--held in the Village on June 18 was such a hit that the Maplewood Village businesses decided to give it another whirl just four months later.

Said Mary Vayas of No. 165, the eclectic clothing and lifestyle boutique, "We've had women talking about coming with groups of their friends. Some are bringing friends in from the City."

Vayas said the night will include dining specials, giveaways, trunk shows and specials. Ladies should just follow the pink balloons from venue to venue. At No. 165, The Able Baker will be providing free treats. Door prizes and raffles are part of the mix.

Vayas helped organize the event along with her neighbors at Perch Home, Little One & Co., Village Belle, and Village Wine Shop.

There is an element to this event that was not a part of the June GNO. "As this event falls in October which is Breast Cancer Awareness Month," wrote Hanh Truong of Little One & Co. in an email,  "We will be supporting the Susan G. Komen Foundation." A number of participating merchants are donating 10% of their proceeds from the night to the Komen Foundation. No. 165 is among those businesses.

And for the girls who want to get out but still love their Yankees? Never fear. The game (with a scheduled start time of 7:57 p.m.) will be on the screens at Indigo, Cent'Anni and St. James Gate!
