Woman, 70, Says Her Purse Was Snatched At Maplewood Bus Stop
Maplewood police say a man pushed a woman down, grabbed her purse, and made a getaway in a car.
MAPLEWOOD, NJ — The Maplewood police said that they received a call around 10:58 a.m. Wednesday about a robbery at a bus stop in the township.
Police spoke with a woman, 70, who said her purse was snatched as she waited on the south side of Springfield Avenue at the bus stop, near Princeton Street.
The woman told police she had $88 in the purse.

Police said the man pushed the woman to the ground and took the purse. Then, he ran to a dark-colored vehicle that was parked nearby, and drove east on Springfield Avenue, police said.
The man was described as heavy-set, wearing black pants, with short hair. Police said a witness believed the vehicle was a dark gray Honda Civic.
