Aldi Grocery Store Set To Open Morganville Location Next Week

The new storefront is part of an initiative to open 4 stores in New Jersey by the end of 2020.

MARLBORO, NJ – Move over, Costco: a competing grocery retailer is coming to Morganville.

A new Aldi location on Texas Road, slated to open on Aug. 13, will take over the vacant 2-acre lot. The new storefront comes during an initiative to open 4 stores in New Jersey by the end of 2020, part of Aldi’s larger expansion plan to become the third-largest U.S. grocery retailer by store count by the end of 2022.

The Morganville store will be open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily.

“We are dedicated to providing the communities we serve the best groceries at the lowest-possible prices, and we look forward to introducing Morganville to their new neighborhood grocery store,” said Bob Grammer, Center Valley division vice president for Aldi in a statement. “We are focused on continuing to expand and open new stores across the country because we want to do our part. We know now, more than ever, easy access to fresh food and household essentials is invaluable.”

For in-person shoppers, the new grocer will feature open ceilings and natural lighting built with environmentally friendly materials.

Aldi has held the esteemed title of Value Leader among U.S. grocery stores by Market Force Information, according to a release. The retailer maintains low prices by curating a selection of more than 90 percent exclusive brands, with a guarantee that Aldi products are as good (or better) than national brands. In fact, 1 in 3 Aldi-exclusive products are award winners.

For customers who prefer to buy their groceries online, grocery delivery is available in more than 10,000 ZIP codes. A Curbside Grocery Pickup option will be available at new stores as well.

The storefront opening comes as other grocery chains across the country are filing for bankruptcy and closing multiple stores. Earlier this year, Fairway Market and Lucky’s Market (a Whole Foods competitor) both filed for bankruptcy, with the latter chain agreeing to sell six of its stores to Aldi and Publix.

Despite the actions of other tri-state grocers, Aldi doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon. In fact, in recent years, Aldi has invested more than $5 billion in a nationwide growth initiative to update existing stores and to open hundreds of new locations, according to a release.

“Each new store is an opportunity to serve another community, which is an honor and responsibility we do not take lightly,” said Jason Hart, the U.S. CEO of Aldi in a statement. “As we continue to expand, we promise to do everything in our power to offer the lowest prices, every day, without exception. In fact, as food costs are rising across the country, we’re lowering prices on hundreds of items to meet our customers’ increased need for savings.”
