COLTS NECK, NJ — One of the Jersey Shore's most beloved food markets is closing for three days, but the reason behind closure is a mystery.
In a video posted to Delicious Orchards' Facebook page, Vice President Michael McDonald announced that the market would be closed Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, before reopening on Friday.
Prior to the market closing, Delicious Orchards also closed early at 3 p.m. on Sunday and was closed (as usual) on Monday.
"Why?... Not supposed to say, but it's not a bad thing," McDonald said in the market's closure announcement video. "I promise you, this is a good thing. We'll be able to talk about it a little bit more after the week is done."
Though Delicious Orchards has not yet revealed the reason for their temporary closure, McDonald went on to clarify that:
"We'll be back open on Friday," McDonald said. "So the weekend before, you're gonna see some things moving around — don't sweat it. Promise you all will be right. You are stuck with us for another 100 years."
A staple of Monmouth County, Delicious Orchards grew to 110 acres over the years after the orchard opened in 1911, with three generations of Barclay family managing the operation.
Today, the market is known for their famous apple cider donuts, as well as its variety of baked goods, gift baskets, fresh fruit, deli items and more.
