Amy Bolowitz
Age: 53
Town of Residence: Marlboro
Education: High School
Occupation: Retail Associate; 34+ years of retail and retail management experience
What drove you to seek public office?
As a proud Marlboro resident for 12 years and a parent of a child in our public schools, I care deeply about the future of our students and our community.
My involvement as an Asher Holmes PTA volunteer gave me firsthand experience with the needs of our schools and families.
I wanted to take that commitment a step further by serving on the Board of Education, where I can help support a strong education for every student, promote student safety, and ensure that taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
What sets you apart from the other candidates?
I bring a combination of parent perspective, community involvement, and more than 34 years of retail and management experience.
My career has taught me the importance of listening, communicating effectively, solving problems, and working with people who have different viewpoints. I also played an instrumental role in helping pass the referendum to bring air conditioning to Asher Holmes and Robertsville Elementary Schools.
I believe in collaboration, treating people with respect, and focusing on solutions rather than conflict.
What are past accomplishments or experiences that make you qualified for this position?
One of my proudest accomplishments was helping build support for the referendum that will bring air conditioning to the last two elementary schools in Marlboro that did not have it. Voters approved the referendum with 63.56% voting yes, demonstrating what our community can accomplish when we work toward a shared goal.
My years of retail management have also given me valuable experience in leadership, budgeting, customer service, communication, and resolving disagreements. As a PTA volunteer and parent, I understand the importance of listening to families and supporting our educators.
I would bring these experiences to the Board while remaining open to learning from district professionals and fellow board members.
If elected, what will be your top priorities in your new role?
My priorities will be to support strong academic programs and educational opportunities for every student, promote safe and supportive school environments, and ensure responsible budgeting and transparency with taxpayer dollars. I also want to encourage open communication among the Board, district administration, educators, parents, and the community.
Most importantly, I want our Board to work collaboratively, keep students at the center of its decisions, and focus on moving Marlboro's schools forward.
Name one thing about Marlboro that always makes you smile.
What always makes me smile is seeing how much our community cares about its children.
Whether it is parents volunteering at school, educators supporting students, or residents coming together to improve our schools, those everyday acts of commitment remind me why Marlboro is such a special place to call home.
I am proud to be part of this community and to help advance Marlboro's youth.
