911 where is your Emergency?

• Every 2.2 seconds in America there is a call to 911, many are a request for an ambulance.
• Every 90 seconds in America someone suffers Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), which is about 1,000 people a day, EVERY day, with a healthy population.
• The survival rate for SCA is only 5-7%. Survival is low because many people in SCA do not have CPR started or an AED applied to them prior to First Responders arriving.
• Average response time for an ambulance in America is 8-12 minutes (in non-pandemic times). Brain death occurs in 10 minutes following SCA. In normal situations 70% of Sudden Cardiac Arrests happen at home.
The Impact of COVID-19 at Home
With the COVID-19 pandemic think of the people that are home now. Think about the people that normally have an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) at their place of work. Think about the children that are protected by having AEDs at schools and sports fields. Think about how unprepared most of us are at home.
