Springsteen's Son Applies To Be Jersey City Firefighter: Report

JERSEY CITY, NJ — From Colts Neck to Jersey City! Bruce Springsteen's son took the civil service exam to be a Jersey City firefighter, an unnamed source in the fire department told the Jersey Journal newspaper.

The rocker's son, Sam, is 25 years old. He took the civil service test last year and results were just announced this week. They have not, however, been made public yet. So Sam has not yet been hired.

Applicants must first take the civil service exam; the top 60 highest-scorer applicants are then sent by Jersey City for a rigorous five-month training course at the Morristown Fire Academy, the Jersey Journal reported. If they pass the training course, they are then hired as professional Jersey City firefighters.

Sam Springsteen previously served as a volunteer firefighter in Colts Neck; he graduated from the Monmouth County Fire Academy in 2014. Springsteen and his family live on a horse farm in Colts Neck. His wife, Patti Scialfa, is very active in the world of professional riding. Patti posted several photos of her son back in 2014 when he first became a Colts Neck volunteer firefighter, with the hashtags #Proud and #OurFamilyHero.

Sam is the youngest of their three children. Their daughter, the middle child, is very active in the equestrian world, as well.
