Colts Neck Library Accepting Donations For Spring Book Sale

The library is collecting books, CDs, puzzles and more now through the end of March in preparation for the upcoming sale. See details:

COLTS NECK, NJ — The Colts Neck Branch of the Monmouth County Library is now accepting donations as they prepare to host a book sale in early May, the Colts Neck Friends of the Library said.

Now through March 31, donations in good condition are welcome at the Colts Neck Library during open hours in the lower level of the library’s foyer.

The conditions for acceptable and unacceptable donations include:

Acceptable

  • Books in good condition and better
  • Books that you would read in bed
  • All kinds of FICTION
  • MOST Non-Fiction categories; please note Unacceptable categories below
  • Travel Guides dated 2021 to present
  • CDs, CD Audiobooks and viewable DVDs in good condition
  • Puzzles in good condition and better
  • Board games in good condition and better

  • No Encyclopedias, Text Books, Reference, Reader’s Digest, magazines
  • No Science & Medical books older than 5 years
  • No Books in poor, torn, or damaged condition
  • No Books with mildew, mold, wrinkles, water, or other stains
  • No Books with handwritten notes, marked or highlighted pages
  • No Books that you would NOT read in bed or give to family
  • No VERY old books with BROWNED or black-spotted edges on pages
  • No VHS tapes or audiobooks on cassettes

Book donations should be dropped off during the library’s open hours in the downstairs lobby near the inside double-doors by the wood credenza, without blocking them, officials said.

Donors should NOT leave books at the drop bin for library returns or leave them outside where the elements could ruin donations. Library officials are also asking donors to avoid blocking doors or elevators.

The Spring Book Sale will take place on Saturday, May 2 (from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) and Sunday, May 3 (from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.)

Library Hours include:

  • Monday & Wednesday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Tuesday & Thursday: 1 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Friday: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Saturday: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
