Colts Neck Man is New Monmouth County Attorney

Mike Fitzgerald is a Colts Neck Committeeman and served on the Wall Township Committee when he lived there.

COLTS NECK, NJ - The Monmouth County Board of Freeholders has chosen Michael Fitzgerald of Colts Neck as the new Monmouth County corporation counsel, a county spokeswoman confirmed to Patch. Fitzgerald, 58, a Republican, has served on the Colts Neck Republican Committee for the past seven years and currently serves as deputy mayor of Colts Neck. He will have to step down as committeeman once he becomes the county's lawyer.

Fitzgerald will replace Andrea Bazer as Monmouth County's new attorney. She was appointed in November as a Monmouth County Superior Court judge. Before Bazer, the county did not have a full-time, in-house corporation counsel. Fitzgerald will make $160,000 a year and will start the new job on Jan. 9, according to the Asbury Park Press.

The freeholders interviewed several people after advertising the job on the county's website, and Fitzgerald was selected for the job, they told the APP. Fitzgerald also previously served on the Wall Township Committee in the late 1990s before he moved to Colts Neck.
