Cougars Stay Hot, Record Third Straight Win
Colts Neck girls varsity soccer remains undefeated with 4-0 win over Neptune
Colts Neck girls varsity soccer braved both the weather, and the Scarlet Fliers of Neptune High School, on Thursday afternoon to remain undefeated this season with a 4-0 score.
The girls are coming off of a big win against number one Red Bank Catholic on Tuesday.
In spite of light rain and heavy winds, the Cougars turned the first half of their matchup with Neptune into an offensive outburst and, in turn, scored all four of their goals within the game’s opening 32 minutes.

“It’s really hard to get up after a big win like we had on Tuesday,” said Colts Neck head coach Doug Phillips.
“Before the game, I told (the team), let’s keep a clean sheet. Let’s just try to play well and create some opportunities today.”

Opportunities were certainly created as each of the Cougars’ four scores was courtesy of four different players. Sophomore Danielle Krachie sparked Colts Neck with the team’s first goal of the game, with her score coming in the game’s sixth minute. Forward Kelsey Burns contributed soon after, recording a goal in the thirteenth minute.
When it appeared that the Colts Neck offense was slowing down, two more goals were scored within two minutes of each other, as senior midfielder Rachael Ivanicki fired the ball past the Neptune defense in the game’s 31st minute, and freshman Halley Cartas scored in the 33rd minute.
“We really just want to stay healthy throughout each game,” said Phillips. “We want to stay healthy and move the ball well. If we can work on team shape and just keep moving forward, I think we’ll be okay.”
The Cougars have the weekend off from any in-game action, and will return to the field when they travel to Long Branch on Sept. 20.
