County activates medical bus
Monmouth County purchased an ambulance bus, equipped to deal with mass casualty incidents and large scale emergencies.

The county is planning for large scale emergencies with its new medical ambulance bus for mass casualty incidence response.
The bus is equipped for transport, triage, evaluations and medical support for patients, firefighters and EMS.
The unit cost $340,000 and was purchased through a grant from the Department of Homeland Security, according to a news release.
“This bus will be a huge resource across the region when it comes to providing emergency services,” Sheriff Shaun Golden said in a news release. “It can be activated during large scale fires, evacuations, bus, train or ferry accidents, and weather related emergencies when there is need to treat people at the scene or transport them to hospitals.”
The bus is 42 feet long and has the support through equipment to treat 20 patients. The bus became available for use in the county on Aug. 18 and is being held in Neptune Township.
“We’re just a few weeks away from the 10 anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks and that day will forever be a constant reminder that we have to remain vigilant when it comes to protecting or region,” Michael Bascom, Monmouth County EMS Coordinator said in a news release.
The bus is the second of its kind in the state, the first is was received by Union County and is held in Elizabeth.
