Driver Lost Consciousness Before Route 79 Crash, Marlboro Police Say

Authorities believe the crash was preceded by a possible medical episode that led to a loss of consciousness.

MARLBORO, NJ — A driver lost consciousness prior to a crash that closed part of Route 79 on Friday afternoon, Marlboro Police Captain Allan Bilinski told Patch.

The afternoon crash occurred around 1 p.m. on Friday on Route 79 North, about 500 feet north of Brown Road, Bilinski said.

One vehicle was involved in the crash, as well as a utility pole, according to police. No injuries were reported.

According to Bilinski, authorities believe that an unspecified medical episode led to a loss of consciousness prior to the crash.

Police have not released the identity of the driver involved in the incident.

After the road was closed around 1 p.m. on Friday, it reopened at 9:46 p.m. that night.
