Emergency Drills Planned At Colts Neck Naval Station Tuesday
Exercises will include the firing of blank ammunition and announcements over the weapons station's emergency broadcast system.
COLTS NECK, NJ - Locals, be warned: Naval Weapons Station Earle in Colts Neck is expected to conduct several security training exercises at its Monmouth County facility on March 30, officials said.
The exercises are designed to train installation security and emergency management personnel and are not in response to any specific threat, according to a spokesperson from the naval base. The training will take place from approximately 1 to 3 p.m.
“Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal base operations. However, the exercises will include the firing of blank ammunition,” a spokesperson said in a news release sent to Patch. “Additionally, residents in the immediate area may hear announcements over the Station’s emergency broadcast system -- to eliminate any confusion with possible real world events, all announcements related to the drill will begin and end with the statement, ‘exercise, exercise, exercise.’”
