The Colts Neck Historic Preservation Committee announces their first Halloween-themed event at Bucks Mill Park and the historic Montrose School on Montrose Road – “A Colts Neck Halloween Festival featuring Edgar Allan Poe.”
Activities at Bucks Mill Park will be held in and around the Bucks Mill Park barn. Participants can bob for apples, join in a costume parade (weather permitting), and enjoy a supervised bonfire. Vendors will be on hand and refreshments will be available. Attendees are encouraged to come in costume and bring their own carved pumpkins, which will be lit with tea lights provided by the committee as night falls. The festival will occur rain or shine.
Hayrides will continue throughout the evening, and will be “slightly scary” at the beginning for younger participants and get scarier as the night progresses. zombies, vampires and a graveyard will be part of the hayride. Local youth groups will don costumes and create live characters during the hayride, as well as assist throughout the event.
At Bucks Mill Park, admission is $10 for adults; those under 15 are free. Tickets may be purchased at the gate that evening, or in advance at Colts Neck Realty, 30 Route 537 West.
